Softball Hitting - Improve Your Performance with Vision Training

When things are not going well at the plate, the first place we look is in the mechanics of the swing. The next thing we look at is the mental part (which is often the #1 problem). If things are still not working, then we look at other things. One of those things should be the vision.

That might sound like common sense but most athletes don't get their eyes checked or don't train their "eye muscles" to track the ball properly. These are two things you definitely want to do. Watch this video for more details on how to do it.

My daughter has been a slapper for about 5 years, she almost 16 now. She has had to take off the last year due to lower back injury. After MRI and X rays along with therapy, it's still not clear exactly what her injury is. The core strengthing and deep tissue massage appears to be showing some benefits.
Is there any history of slap hitters having more back injuries? When you look at the motion, you can see where it appears to certainly put more strain with the cross-over step while hitting.

Not to my knowledge. Slap hitting is not much harder on the trunk than regular hitting will be. It is more challenging from a technical standpoint to execute but not that much more from a physical standpoint.

It does put a bit more strain for the cross-over step. That's for sure. However, in my years in softball and work with players, I never noticed a link between back injuries and slapping.

You see that link more commonly in pitchers and catchers than in slap hitters.

Hope she is better now.
